JSC RIWord specializes in the production of  articles made of aluminium, brass and zinc alloys by high pressure casting with the use fully automatic foundry complex with computer control of process variables.

The method of high pressure casting allows to produce articles of high precision, complex configuration, articles that require minimum mechanical processing.

What are the distinguishing features of our production?

- Since we have a unique technology of detailed mathematical modelling of foundry processes, we can ensure full technological control of pressing speeds and forces in all processes.

Computer control of manufacturing processes ensure the conformity of real processes to reference processes, thus, we can model the quality of castings and model the whole foundry process, i.e.we have a quality management system of a really new level.

The machines and equipment base that the firm has also corresponds in full measure to the meaning of the word "innovation" - a component of our company's name. RIWord firm has high pressure casting machines with unique properties - for instance, there is a three-phase modernized pressing unit with two separate circuits. Two-circuit pressing mechanism with a gas multiplier drive and adjusting proportional hydroapparatuses made by Parker-Hannifin located on the drain line of the unit allow to reduce considerably the spoilage of the castings as to porosity (which is characteristic of machines of other design and which results from taking the air from the compression box, hydroblow at the end of filling the mould and instable maintenance of process variables set).

 

The modernized pressing unit ensures the following parameters:  

1.      First slow stage speed: 0.1 : 0.15 m/sec (closing of the filling opening).

2.      First fast stage speed: 0.15 : 0.35 m/sec (collection of the melt in the pressing chamber with constant acceleration).

3.      The speed of the second phase is programmed in the course of the whole of the phase, including in the decelerating mode. The maximum speed mounts to 10 m/sec. In any range the variation from the speed set does not exceed + 0.01 m/sec.

4.      At the stage of compression of the metal in the mould, pressure in the pressing cylinder increases in 10 to 15 milliseconds. The multiplication pressure is programmed up to the value set and is maintained automatically. The multiplier can be engaged with both advance and delay with respect to the stop of the press-piston.

 

The following factors influence the increase of the density of the casting:

  1. Uniformly accelerated motion of the press-piston at the 1st stage which eliminates the forming of the metal wave and ensures the advance outlet of the air and decrease of the quantity of air and gas inclusions.
  2. Fast (10 to 15 milliseconds) increase of pressure at the final stage up to the value set, due to a separate circuit of the multiplier drive and absence of opposite pressure in the rod end of its cylinder. An independent unit of accumulators and the adjustment of the pressing force with the use of a special mobile accumulator rule out the dependence of the time needed to reach the prepressing pressure on the speed of the 2nd stage and on the value of the opposite pressure in the rod end of the multiplier.
  3. Shockless pressing without peak loads at the end of the piston stroke possible due to gas multiplier drive (instead of traditional hydraulic drive) and considerable reduction of     the inertia of the prepressing mechanism. The liquidation of the hydroblow is also furthered by the absence of peak oscillations of the pressure that are caused by the throttling of the flux from the common accumulator (which is characteristic of single-circuit units) and during the discharge from the rod end of the multiplier where opposite pressure is maintained.
  4. Stability of the maintenance of optimum technological modes due to the adjustment of the pressing speed at the discharge from the rod end of the cylinder, and due to a separate circuit with a gas multiplier drive.
  5. Possibility of increase of the pressing speed according to the parabolic law, which ensures a considerable improvement of the density of the casts.

 

One of the most important means to ensure the stability of performance parameters of the pressing unit is the control system. The main component of the control system is the pressing quality control system that ensures graphic and numerical registration of pressing parameters and displays in the screen the piston speed curves and piston path curves and pressure in the rod end of the pressing cylinder. It is possible to keep information in the form of tables and in the graphic form for 10 million castings in order to categorize them and for further analysis and printout.

High technical level of the equipment, wide range of technological capacities of the pressing unit and the control system, the safety of the elemental base of the hydraulic apparatuses and electronic apparatuses allow to use these machines for founding articles which require high responsibility.

The weight of the castings produced by high pressure casting is up to 6.5 kg. The maximum size: 700 x 700 x 500 mm, the precision of the castings conforms to class 2 to 4.

RIWord engage in development and production of press molds and tools for pressure casting, performs all the types of mechanical processing.

    BENEFITS OF HIGH PRESSURE DIE CASTING
    High-speed production - Die casting provides complex forms within closer tolerances than many other mass production processes, i.e. other casting methods. Thus, little or no machining is required and thousands of identical castings can be produced before additional tooling is required.
    Shape accuracy and stability - Die casting makes details that are long-lasting and stable in sizes, while maintaining close tolerances. They are also heat resistant.
    Strength and weight - Die cast parts are stronger than plastic injection moldings having the same dimensions. Thin wall castings are stronger and lighter than those possible with other casting methods, die castings do not consist of separate parts welded or fastened together, the strength is that of the alloy rather than the joining process allowing die casts parts to replace welded sheet metal assemblies with a one piece part.
    Texture of metal - density and to a great extent even casting porosity. Because high pressure die casting fills a mold in a consistent manner from a computer controlled machine, process variation is stable part to part, area's of porosity can be better managed in a good die cast tool to help make a good casting consistently.

    Output  - 2-5 thousand units. Per day, 150-200 thousands units. monthly.
    Materials: steel sheet with   thickness less than  4 mm,  aluminium sheet with thickness less than 5-6 mm.
    Depending to the thickness of sheet , sizes of parts are:
    Sheet  1 mm -  dimensions are 200х200 mm,
    Sheet   2 mm - dimensions are 100х100 mm

    General stamped parts are: shim, back clips, brackets, H-corners, etc.

    Various finishing techniques - Die cast parts can be easily plated or finished with a minimum of surface preparation. Covering with powder coating (as well as oxydation,  galvanizing, chroming).
